Everyone has a dominant money personality. Your money personality affects how you view, relate to and manage money. Sometimes you may have a different money personality in relation to different areas; for example, food, clothes or travel. Over the next few weeks we will be looking at different money personalities, with some of their strengths and weaknesses. Much of the content will be based on the book ‘First Comes Love, Then Comes Money’ by Bethany and Scott Palmer. You can check it out.
Today let’s start with an overview.
The Saver – They hate parting with their money. They think everything is expensive. They know what every penny is doing!
The Spender – These people love spending. It may be on themselves or on others. Either way, it gives them a thrill.
The Risk Taker – These are the inventors, and entrepreneurs. They don’t mind investing all and being without for a while, if the gains are great!
The Security Seeker – These are the planners. They plan for every conceivable eventuality! They have detailed financial plans for their retirement and carefully worked out life insurance.
The Flyer – Has no plan when it comes to money. They just go with the flow, flying by the seat of their pants!
So, which money personality type can you relate to? Are there any areas of your life where you exhibit a different money personality? What about your loved ones? For example, I am a saver when it comes to clothes but a spender when it comes to food. My sister is the opposite. How do you think your money personality impacts your life in the short term? How about long term? How does it impact your relationships? Comment, share this post and get the conversation going!
